She was inspired by the athletes' unwavering commitment and exceptional performances and knew she wanted to work for a company that shared the same values.

Meet Blessing Maranga, Procurement Manager at our Redwater and Fort Saskatchewan Nitrogen facilities in Alberta, Canada

What was your career path?

I became a Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) and earned my Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from Athabasca University. I spent some time in the oil and gas sector and worked in the construction industry, assisting in constructing a hydroelectric plant in Edmonton. During this period, I learned about Nutrien and was impressed by their business practices, particularly their emphasis on safety in all aspects, including interactions with suppliers. I've always been passionate about supply chain management and worked as a contractor for Nutrien before transitioning to a full-time role in 2023.

What does your job entail?

As a procurement manager, I collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure competitive pricing, conduct risk assessments, promote and support our safety culture, and adhere to our procurement procedures with due diligence.

I derive great satisfaction from building relationships. It’s important to me that I prioritize establishing strong, long-term relationships with suppliers in my role. Everyone involved in decision-making is receptive to providing candid and constructive feedback, fostering synergy and efficiency. I’m dedicated to listening to one another and negotiating equitable outcomes for everyone.

Within Nutrien, our team is committed to arriving at work each day with enthusiasm and engagement and we concentrate on our collective objectives. I eagerly anticipate interacting with my colleagues each day and seek opportunities to contribute to the team's and company's goals while remaining authentic to who I am.

What is a fun fact about you that people may not know?

I am an identical twin. I have two sisters living in Canada and two siblings in Africa. Zimbabwe is a stunning country, and I encourage everyone to make the effort to visit.

I am the parent of three children, two sons and a daughter. I enjoy reading and traveling with my husband. Our most recent trip was to Europe, where we explored six countries; my favorite stop was Bruges, a city in Belgium.
